For years NEOOC has provided a full slate of orienteering events for everyone to enjoy. In recent years, NEOOC has teamed up with the Greater Cleveland Council, the Great Trails Council, and Camp Tuscazoar to work specifically with scouts.
NEOOC is raising the stakes even higher to insure that all scouts have an opportunity to participate in the international sport of orienteering and all that it offers, for an awesome adventure in the Great Outdoors.
New for 2106, on March 12, NEOOC and the Kenston Community Education Center are teaming up for a Scouts-Only merit badge workshop where scouts will pass most of the MB requirements, be trained by experienced orienteers, and then complete multiple courses. The $15 per Scout fee includes a pizza lunch. Registration is REQUIRED! To register, go to: http://neooc.com/boy-girl-scout-orienteering-merit-badge-workshop-12-march-2016/
Every NEOOC event provides opportunities to pass MB requirements. Scouts, patrols, & troops can even volunteer to assist at events, which allows them to pass some of the tougher requirements of the MB. Scoutmasters can request that NEOOC provide your troop with a tracking sheet to help monitor the scouts’ progress through the reqs. NEOOC can have the tracker at all events, so scouts can update their progress after each completed course.
Orienteering for Beginners (OFB) is offered twice a year for instruction that covers many of the MB reqs., and is open to everyone, including scout families, regardless of prior experience.
Even at NEOOC events when no training is planned, NEOOC members are usually available to talk to scouts about orienteering techniques and tips.
